Or wants to choose
Author: Sraya Tanami
Or had a birthday. He received some beautiful gifts.
Nir, the good friend, bought him a blue watch. Aunt Rachel bought a yellow shirt with buttons. Gilad, his elder brother, bought a small basket with a basketball. Grandma Gila bought a small bag. Neighbour Yaniv brought a large toy car.
Or loved all the gifts. On Sunday Or played a little basketball with neighboring Eden. On Monday he wore the yellow shirt. He travelled with Dad and Mom to visit the uncles who lived in the village. On Tuesday he used the small bag when he went to a music class. He put something else in each cell. On Wednesday he wore the watch, and always knew what time it was. On Thursday he opened the box in which the big car was wrapped, and drove the car up and down. It was built from pieces of wood that he found in the garden.
"It's so much fun to have new things", Or thought to himself, "I feel wonderful. I feel like a new person."
Then he asked Dad and Mom for another gift. Dad was surprised and asked: "Are all these gifts not enough for you?" Mom said: "First enjoy what you got! Why do you need to buy another toy now?"
Or smiled and said: "I am happy, and said thank you for every gift. But these are gifts I received from others, and now I want to choose a gift myself".
Dad and Mom took Or to the toy store so Or could choose a gift. He turned around for a few moments and looked at all the toys, until suddenly he saw a special toy for him, a toy he felt was his!
It was a special house that had to be put together. The walls were yellow, and the roof was red. There were also balconies for the house, a small garden, parking for the car, and even a mailbox for letters.
Or loved the colors of the house, and all its parts. Most importantly, Or chose it by himself, and thus felt that this gift was truly his.
